Virginia García’s side fall short against Atlético Baleares despite clear goalscoring opportunities
Villarreal Women were unable to get a point from their visit to Atlético Baleares. The home side took all three points thanks to an Ossorio goal in the second half. The Yellows had clear chances to score, but were unsuccessful in front of goal. Szymanowski made her debut for the Submarine, coming on in the 77th minute.
Aixa Salvador had the first chance of the game in the 22nd minute, while shortly afterwards the opposition replied with a shot against the woodwork.
In the closing stages, the Yellows went in search of an equaliser. They came close with chances from Laura Riquelme and Marian. The first of these did not result in a goal as it crashed against the crossbar, while the last attempt did not result in an equaliser due to a spectacular save by the Atlético Baleares goalkeeper.
Villarreal Women’s next game is on Saturday 1st February at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground against Atlético de Madrid B (1pm CET).
