Villarreal CF return to the Estadio de la Cerámica to face a direct rival in the fight for Europe (Monday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal CF want to make the Estadio la Cerámica a fortress and that means getting a good result from the match against RCD Mallorca (Monday, 9pm CET), corresponding to Matchday 20 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA Sports seasons. Marcelino’s team – in fifth place – will be looking for a win against the sixth-placed side, after their narrow 1-0 defeat at the Reale Arena against Real Sociedad last Monday.
Both teams will be looking for a win as they look to consolidate their position in the European places. RCD Mallorca are back in the league for the first time since 21st December, when they won narrowly at the Coliseum against Getafe CF (0-1). Jagoba Arrasate’s men come into the game after failing to reach the last 32 of the Copa del Rey at the Estadio Municipal de Pasarón against Pontevedra, as well as being defeated in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia by Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Villarreal CF, who are aiming to be strong at home, have not won at La Cerámica since 9th November against Deportivo Alavés (3-0). They will be looking for their fourth home win of the season against RCD Mallorca, while the visitors are one of the best away sides in the competition, with five wins in nine away games.
The last game played between these two teams at the Estadio de la Cerámica was on 20th January 2024, Matchday 21 of last season, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Exactly one year later, the two teams meet again in front of the fans.
