The B team lose to Yeclano thanks to an Errahaly goal
Villarreal B were unable to end 2024 on a high. The Yellows, who had several clear chances to score, lost to Yeclano Deportivo thanks to a Errahaly goal.
The B team were without their top scorer, Etta Eyong, who was unable to play in this game as he was called up to the first team for Sunday’s game against Leganés.
The visitors took the lead in the first quarter of an hour. A cross from the right flank ended up on the other flank for Errahaly to score with a left-footed finish (0-1, minute 15). The game was starting to look tough for the Yellows.
The bad news kept coming. Shortly after, Víctor had to leave the pitch injured. Facu Viveros took his place in attack.
The Mini Submarine kept trying, but could not find a way to get a foothold in the well-organised Yeclano defence. The best chances for the Yellows came in the closing stages of the first half with a bouncing corner and a shot from Quintero that went just wide of the post.
Miguel Álvarez made two changes at half-time in search of a comeback. Valou and Budesca replaced A. Diatta and Joseda.
Budesca had a chance in the 70th minute after a through ball from Facu Viveros. The right-back’s effort was blocked by Iván Martínez when the Mini Estadi stands were almost celebrating the goal. It was a pity. Facu Viveros also came close in extra time, but his shot went just wide of the left-hand post.
Villarreal B’s next game will be on Sunday 12th January at CF Fuenlabrada (5:30pm CET).
