The Villarreal winger underlined his happiness at the team’s form and his hopes to keep on helping his side
Villarreal CF winger Yeremy Pino spoke to the media at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground ahead of this weekend’s match against CA Osasuna.
Here is what he had to say:
Feeling good
“I’m currently in a very good place. I’m happy to keep getting more minutes, gaining confidence and being able to help the team.”
A message of support
‘I want to send a lot of encouragement and support to Ilias, who is probably having a hard time. I, personally, have been back here since pre-season, with sometimes less minutes, sometimes more, and a few niggles, but trying to help the team as much as possible.”
His experience with Spain
“It’s an added bonus, playing at home and with my family close by. Also, the fact that I’m the first Canarian to score a goal on the island is a source of pride. Now we have to keep working.”
Versatility on the pitch
“I feel comfortable in many positions. It’s true that both here at Villarreal and in the national team there is a high level and that’s good. I have to give my best wherever I play and from there I have to keep growing to be able to contribute everywhere.”
An end of a calendar year with direct opponents
“For us, the games that are coming up are very important. Now we have direct rivals coming up and we have to compete to finish the year as high up as possible, which is our objective.”
Next up: CA Osasuna
“They have a great team. They also started the season very well. They are players who can compete very well. We have to be able to offset their good qualities and we have to play the way we’ve been playing all season. The key for us is to be ourselves, press high, be intense and play the way we want to play.”
Summary of the season so far
“We have started the season very well. We haven’t had moments of bad form. We have a very clear objective and we want to be at the top to be in Europe next year.”
Only two defeats
“We don’t lose faith in any game. We’ve shown that we can turn any scoreline around, even if there’s not much time left. Now we are finding that continuity, that confidence and you can see the work the coach has been doing this year. We are now a stronger team.”
Marcelino García Toral
“Last year I wasn’t able to be with the team much, but since I arrived in pre-season, the tactical work and the coach have been very noticeable. He’s a head coach who is on top of the players and gets the best out of each and every one of us.”
