Virginia García has analysed Villarreal Women’s next match against AEM (Sunday, 12pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach, Virginia García, appeared before the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about the match that the Yellows will play this Sunday against AEM at 12pm CEST on Pitch 5 of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
These are the most important statements from the head coach:
A good point against the leaders
‘Alhama CF’s ground is a very difficult pitch and Alhama CF were in a very positive dynamic, as they hadn’t conceded a goal or any points. The team competed very well and it’s a very positive point that brings us back to winning ways after the defeat against Deportivo Alavés. There are aspects that we have to continue to improve, but with regard to the dynamic we are having of growth, we are improving. We went to Murcia with six absentees and I don’t think anyone noticed, so I’m very happy with the availability of the whole squad and how we competed on such a difficult pitch.”
The rival: AEM
“AEM played their Copa de la Reina match yesterday, eliminating a first division team in RCD Espanyol. So we are going to face a very difficult opponent. Last season, for example, they played in the play-off for promotion. They have a very competitive squad and a head coach who always gets 100% out of his players. We are very clear about the type of game we are going to have, what we have to do and what we have to avoid in their game. We are convinced of the line of work we are following to continue our collective growth.”
Being a dominant team
‘Football is all about moods and AEM have just come from a very difficult tie, so they will come with extra motivation. We have to focus on ourselves, on continuing to grow, on preparing well for the game and with the motivation and ambition to take three points on our home pitch. Sunday’s game will depend on what we want to happen on the pitch. We are convinced of the work we are doing and, whatever happens, we want to be a dominant and intense Villarreal. We have to be strong on our home pitch and make sure we don’t drop any more points.”
A message to the fans
“The fans are the 12th player for us. Every time we play at home we feel it, because it’s an extra point. We want to show the fans that we work very hard every day and we will always give our all to get the three points.”
