Artists and bands from the Castellón province can now submit their applications to participate in the Villarreal CF music competition
Registration is now open for the fifth edition of Groc Talent, the music competition organised by Villarreal CF, through the Endavant Cultura program, in partnership with SanSan Festival and the Vila-real Town Council. Artists and music groups from the Castellón province can now submit their applications to take part in this competition, with the prize being to feature at the prestigious indie music festival in Benicàssim.
After four successful editions, Villarreal CF are once again welcoming the best music talents from across the province to this exciting competition which aims to promote the emerging musical artists from across Castellón.
Red Smoke, Valiente Bosque, La Aldea and Pasqual Riera are the past winners of the competition and have fulfilled their dream of performing at the prestigious SanSan Festival.
How do I sign up?
To sign up for the competition, applicants will have to fill out a questionnaire, indicating their name or the name of their group, a short biography, one recent photograph of the group, a email address, a contact number, three songs and, a video of a previous performance of the band. Spotify, SoundCloud, BandCamp and YouTube links with the band’s prior content will be accepted, to check that the band has sufficient credentials to be accepted.
The competition is only open to artists, groups or solo performers living in the Castellón province above 16 years of age, as long as one member of those performing is be above 18. The only type of music that will be accepted is that which aligns stylistically with the music of the SanSan Festival (Indie, Pop, Rock, Alternative…) and it is essential to have at least a 45-minute repertoire to date.
Competition stages and voting system
Once the sign-up period closes on Sunday 1st September at 11:59pm CEST, Villarreal CF and SanSan Festival will select a total of 12 bands or artists from all of the applications, with this result announced be before Tuesday 10th September.
The performances will take place in the Fan Zone at the Estadio de la Cerámica before Villarreal CF matches. Performance dates will be publicised 10 days in advance, as they are subject to the official LaLiga calendar. However, the predicted dates are the following: 22nd and 29th September, 20th October, 3rd and 10th November, 1st and 15th December, 19th January, 2nd and 16th February, 2nd and 16th March.
Fans will be able to enjoy the performances and will have the opportunity to vote for their favourites to reach the grand final, where three groups will compete to be champions of the fifth edition of Groc Talent.
Therefore, the Monday after each performance, at 12pm CEST, the voting period will open and remain active for a week, until the following Monday at the same time. The votes will be registered with a score from 1-5 for the band in question (1 being the lowest score and 5 the highest).
Once all the performances are completed, all of the votes will be counted to choose the top three candidates to advance to the final. The vote count will be the sum of the votes of the public, Villarreal CF and the SanSan Festival management team.
After all the performances and the vote count, the final will be contested by the three finalists. The date and date are still to be decided, but will be between 5th and 6th April 2025.
A professional panel will decide the winners of the competition, and they will take part in the VIII edition of the SanSan Festival in Benicàssim.
