The midfielder believes the Submarine can reach the quarter finals
Villarreal midfielder Álex Baena spoke alongside Quique Setién at the press conference ahead of the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League Round of 16 tie against Anderlecht at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Thursday at 9pm CET after the 1-1 draw in the first leg.
Here is what he had to say:
The tie
“They put us under pressure up there and made it quite difficult for us in some parts of the game and when we came off the ball, so there were moments of difficulty. We need to be calmer and not make the mistakes we made there. We’re playing at home and in front of our own fans, so we hope to play well and win.”
The importance of the competition
“It’s true that it’s a target, we’ve had two very good years in Europe and we want to keep it that way. We know it’s complicated, but it’s our dream and we’re going to fight for it.”
Going for everything
“Europe is always tough and we have to be at our best. We don’t think about crashing out, we know it would be a blow for everyone, but we are convinced that we can and will win. We respect the competition, so we are thinking about winning and competing.”
Terrats
“I knew Ramón from last season, I knew what a good player he was and what he could give us. I told the people at the club about him and you can see on the pitch what a good player and a good person he is.”
