The Mini Submarine lost to Real Zaragoza despite Tasende’s volleyed goal
Villarreal B had a difficult test ahead of them. The Mini Submarine visited La Romareda to face a Real Zaragoza side in need of points and in front of their home fans. The game started off on the wrong foot with a goal from Jaume in the last minute of the first half, but the team recovered and managed to equalise with an extraordinary goal from Dani Tasende. However, Zapater made it 2-1 in stoppage time with no time to react.
Miguel Álvarez brought on Carlos Romero at left-back to replace Tasende, who came on in the second half to play a key role, the Valencian’s first start in LaLiga SmartBank. The first few minutes were a back-and-forth affair for both teams, although there were some approaches to the different penalty boxes, especially through crosses from the wings.
Collado, on the right side, was the man who created the most danger and Carlo added to the pressure in a high block in the moments without the ball. Carlo himself had the first clear chance with a shot from the edge of the box that went just wide of the post. However, the home side took the lead in the last minute of the first half. Jaume took advantage of a set piece to sidefoot a shot into the six-yard box and beat Jorgensen.
After the restart, Haissem, Pacheco and Tasende came on to try to make a comeback in the second 45 minutes. The French winger was the most electric in the first 15 minutes of the second half. On the hour mark, Del Moral shot into the six-yard box against Cristian, who saved the ball with a fantastic save. For his part, Haissem also tested the goalkeeper after a great play.
The team began to settle on the pitch and were rewarded with a great goal. Dani Tasende smashed the ball in with an extraordinary volley to beat Álvarez and tie the game. Mbacke could have had the second with a header, but the game would end in the worst possible way with a goal from Zaragoza in stoppage time, scored by Zapater.
Villarreal B’s next match will take place next Saturday, 22nd October, at 4.15pm CEST at the Mini Estadi against FC Andorra.
