Unai Emery expects a tough game tomorrow against the Austrian side
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media in the press conference ahead of the UEFA Europa Conference League match against FC Austria Wien (Thursday, 6:45pm CEST). Here are the key points he made.
The opposition
“In the home game we saw that Austria Wien have quality players. They are a team that force you to defend low with their wingers and they are used to success in their country and that’s why they press high. They play a modern style and tomorrow they will want to go one step further. It’s going to be a nice game and the more demanding it is for us, the better.”
The match
“I expect a different game to last week. At home they are playing at a high level, they play good football and with the support of their fans it will be difficult. We want to be top of the group and also continue to work as a team to grow.”
Competing in the Conference League
“Tomorrow’s game will be a nice match and the more demanding it is, the better for us. Playing away from home has always been more difficult. It’s true that we’ve responded well, but we haven’t been able to maintain that consistency, but we want to compete for this competition, be top of the group and establish players within the team.”
The importance of a deep squad
“There are players who are doing a great job in this competition, which is very good for us so that they feel important. Tomorrow there will be players who don’t usually play in the Conference. There will be some necessary changes so that, between all of us, we can win the game.”
