Gerard is predicting a demanding match against an FC Bayern side with a lot of talent and attacking capacity (Tuesday, 9pm CEST)
Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno appeared before the media on Monday to analyse the historic match against FC Bayern, corresponding to the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final (Tuesday, 9pm CEST) at the Fussball Arena München.
Gerard underlined the importance of the match, emphasising that it is one of the most important games in the club’s history: “It is one of the most important games Villarreal have ever played because of the difficulty, the opponent and because it is the quarter-finals of the Champions League. We are expecting a very significant match. We are going to compete and work hard.”
Furthermore, the Yellows’ No.7 warned of the great difficulty of the second leg: “I expect a very different game to the one we played in the first leg. The difficulty will be greater. They need to come back and they are a very good team offensively. They accumulate a lot of people to get forward. We have to be very precise. They will have their moments and they are going to demand a lot from us.”
He added that this is a time to enjoy: “We’re really enjoying the journey we’ve been having in Europe. We are facing very difficult opponents, the best teams in the world. We have to enjoy ourselves, knowing how demanding it is. We don’t want to stop here. We want to keep taking steps forward.”
To get through the tie, the Spanish international striker said that Villarreal will have to be at their best: “We have to be at our best throughout the game and make the most of our chances. They are a team that will demand the absolute maximum from us because of the ability of their players. They have a lot of goals and the ability to win games.”
