The club recognised 41 young athletes in a ceremony in which Marcos Senna participated
Villarreal CF, through its Endavant Formació and Cátedra Endavant project, has handed out grants to elite athletes from Jaume I University (UJI), in a ceremony which saw the presence of UJI rector Eva Alcón, and club ambassador Marcos Senna.
For the 2021/22 academic year, the Yellows have handed out a total of 41 grants to athletes from the public university, to 21 women and 20 men. These scholarships started at the start of the 2012/13 academic year, and since then, 330 scholarships have been handed out to UJI students. The total has reached €220,000, from €15,000 in the first year in 2012, to the current €30,000 a year, which has been the same since the 2016/17 academic year.
The grants have two aims: on one hand, to reward academic performance of the university students with regards to their marks, and on the other, to positive value their increased performance in the sporting side of things, taking into account their activity and results in their specific sport. It also finances part of the costs of the studies that the athlete is enrolled in.
Catédra Endavant, made through an agreement between the UJI and Villarreal CF in 2015, even though the two organisations started working together in 2012, has general objectives to increase learning, research, spreading of knowledge and innovation in the sporting world, as well as promoting the practice of sports among students through grants.
