The goals in added time from Dela and Álex Forés give the B team an important win in Murcia
Ecstasy at La Condomina! That’s how you could define what Villarreal B experienced against UCAM Murcia. The Mini Submarine were behind for most of the match despite being better on the pitch, and they found their reward in added time. Sergio Lozano cancelled out the home side’s opener, and Dela and Álex Forés, both in added time, gave the B team the victory after Rubén Mesa scored his second.
The Mini Submarine started the match by pushing UCAM back from the first minute. Lozano had the first chance with a powerful effort from the edge of the box, but his missile went over the bar. The home side’s defence were dealing well with the Yellows’ attacks. After a lovely team move, Carlo Adriano tried his luck with his left foot, but his effort wasn’t powerful enough to beat Pedro López.
However, Rubén Mesa put the home side ahead, finishing a cross that beat Iker Álvarez and scored from a couple of yards out. After the goal, Villarreal B didn’t give up, and Arana could have levelled the tie twice, the first with a good header and the second with an effort from the edge of the box.
The clearest chance of the first half was a free kick taken by Lozano, which bounced back off the bar. Just before half-time, Nikita Iosifov fell in the box after getting on the end of a pass and was asked for a penalty, which the referee didn’t give.
In the second half, Lozano scored from a free-kick. His rocket went into the top corner to level the match. Miguel Álvarez’s men were back in the game. The referee ruled out a Nicolas Jackson goal for offside, after he finished calmly between the goalkeeper’s legs.
Rubén Mesa gave the Yellows another set back with a great goal. The striker’s first-time effort was impossible for Iker to save. However, the Mini Submarine didn’t give up and always believed in a game. Dela’s goal, from inside the box, and Álex Forés, after a counter-attack, gave the Yellows the victory. Villarreal B returned to winning ways after a negative run of results.
