The Yellows lost in a match with a result that didn’t reflect the game
Villarreal lost to San Fernando (0-3). The Yellows were unable to get a point from a match where they didn’t perform badly, and where the result does not reflect what happened on the pitch, where the Mini Submarine controlled the game and the chances.
San Fernando set up defensively, leaving few spaces for Villarreal B’s attacking players to shine, and they found it hard to create clear goalscoring chances in the opening 45 minutes. San Fernando were much more clinical. Halfway through the first half, they went ahead. Jonathan Biabiany surprised Iker Álvarez with a powerful effort from the edge of the box which opened the scoring.
After half-time, Villarreal B were focused on levelling the tie, but San Fernando scored their second goal. In the first minute, an unstoppable Saúl González effort made the match difficult for Villarreal B. Despite the setback, the Yellows reacted and pushed the away team back.
The second half for the Yellows saw a number of chances. Miguel Álvarez’s side tried, but with no luck, to score. Nicolas Jackson, Juan Carlos Arana and Nikita Iosifov all tested Perales. Dela’s long-range effort hit the bar.
In the 90th minute and with Villarreal B pushing forward, San Fernando killed the game off by scoring the third goal on the counter.
