Paco Alcácer, an unstoppable goalscorer in Europe

The Valencian forward has scored five goals in the three Europa League games he’s played in this season

Paco Alcácer scored his fifth goal in this season’s UEFA Europa League yesterday. With only 95 minutes played over those three matches, the Valencian striker is by far the player with the best goals to minutes ratio in the tournament.

Against Salzburg, Paco Alcácer demonstrated his determination, by shouldering the responsibility of taking a penalty, won by Dani Parejo. Yet, despite not scoring it, the forward once again showed his mental strength by not letting his head drop, and putting the Yellow Submarine ahead only 13 minutes after the miss. It was a goal that was very special for the man from Torrent, who dedicated it to his unborn child.

Afterwards, the Spanish International striker spoke to Villarreal TV, praising a great victory earned on Austrian soil: “We are a very hard-working team, and we all fight for the same objectives and have it very clear in our minds what we want to achieve. In football you go through patches, sometimes you have runs of bad form and other times it’s better. We have to keep looking forward. We have a good advantage for the return leg, but we can’t be complacent.”
