Sergio Asenjo underlined the high level and motivation that the Yellows are showing at the start of this season
Yellows goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo analysed the current situation regarding Villarreal, who will face Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Saturday (4:15pm CET). The goalkeeper underlined the team’s competitive level show far this season: “We are working with a lot of motivation each day. This week, against Real Madrid, we will try and compete the best we can to win the game.”
The Yellows No.1 underlined that the team, in little time, have gained a clear identity: “With Emery, we’re competing at a very high level for 90 minutes every match. A reflection of that is our last match against Getafe. We are showing a very high level in a pitch where few teams will get points.”
Focused on the next league tie, against Real Madrid, Asenjo emphasised the level of the upcoming opponent: “Real Madrid have a vast squad, one that’s been built to compete for everything and win titles. We’ve faced them before when it’s also been commented that they’re not in the best form and they’ve always made it very difficult for us. They have the best players in the world and it’ll be extremely tough.”
Finally, the goalkeeper highlighted, that despite it being a special opponent next up, the team goes into every game full of motivation: “Every game is distinct and the manager prepares each one in set way. No opponent is the same, but we always go into the games with respect and humility. We will try and use what we have in our armoury to get a win.”
