Unai Emery sees the team full of excitement ahead of the start of the season against Huesca
New season. Full of excitement. Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery underlined that the team is ready and excited for this Sunday’s game against Huesca (6:30pm CEST) at the Estadio de la Cerámica: “I’m happy with the players’ commitment. We can’t wait to show the best version of ourselves, both individually and as a team. We want to offer the best. We can’t wait to start.”
For Emery, it will be a tough challenge given how Huesca finished last season so well: “It will be a really tough game because of the positive momentum that a newly-promoted team like Huesca has. We will play the match with a lot of respect for them because it will be tough. They feel comfortable. If they continue from last season, it will be a demanding game.”
A deciding factor will be having control of the ball without losing the defensive balance. “We will need to find the right balance to win. I want the team to show that they’re pushing forward. I always want to create an attacking team. We have to try and take control of the ball, although the aim this weekend is to be tighter in defence than we were in pre-season,” said the Basque manager.
To conclude, he underlined his ambition ahead of the upcoming season. “We have long-term, medium-term and short-term objectives. We will be playing in three very exciting competitions and we are going to give our all in every one of them. Our aim is to get the first three points available. We will go game by game. We have exciting expectations.”
