The Yellows head coach highlighted that Villarreal are excited ahead of the tough game against FC Barcelona are believe they can get the three points
Villarreal head coach Javi Calleja appeared in front of the media to analyse the build-up to the game against FC Barcelona (Sunday, 10pm CEST). The Yellows manager explained that his side are going into the game convinced they can get a win against the Catalan side: “We’re going into the match full of motivation, we’re excited and we’re convinced that we can get three points against one of the best teams in the world.”
Villarreal go into the match in excellent form, after having got 16 points from 18 since the league’s return. Despite the great run the Yellows are on Calleja, recognises that the team cannot relax if they want to extend their run: “We’ve done something very difficult and we have to continue like that. The path to follow is believing in ourselves, knowing that if we give 100%, we’re focused and we go into the match with a winning mentality, like we have done until now, we have a chance of coming away with a victory.”
Against Barcelona, Calleja expects to see a Villarreal with the ability to win the game: “They have a lot of quality and make things difficult for you. We can’t make any errors. We want to be a team capable of fighting them for the ball and making them run. We’re a solid team and we need to continue like that.”
Despite the hard work and heavy schedule of recent weeks, Calleja says the team will be in a good physical and mental state going into the match: “We’re good. The good results help that. Every player is keen to carry on playing and continue in the team.”
