

Villarreal will commemorate the club’s 97th anniversary, International Women’s Day and will pay tribute to Playas de Castellón
Villarreal CF have organised a number of events for the build-up to the tie against CD Leganés, which will take place this Sunday, at 6:30pm CET, at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
International Women’s Day
To commemorate International Women’s Day (8th March), Villarreal CF and CD Leganés will take to the pitch accompanied by children, who will hold the hands of footballers from both teams.
97th anniversary of the club
Just before the club’s 97th anniversary, which will take place on 10th March, the Yellows will pay tribute to season-ticket holders from all ages who were born on this day. They will get a small present on behalf of the club and they will get a special memory of this moment, taking a photo with the Yellows’ starting XI
Tribute to Playas de Castellón and honorary kick-off by Pablo Torrijos
Villarreal CF will also pay tribute to the athletes from the Playas de Castellón Athletic Clubs, who have once more been crowned Spanish champions, as well as winning 19 medals (eight golds, five silvers and six bronzes) in the Indoor Track Championships which took place in Ourense (Galicia). In representation of all the medalists, triple jumper Pablo Torrijos, from Castellón, who broke the Spain record with 17.18 and has confirmed his participation for the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, will take the honorary kick-off before the game.
Representing Playas de Castellón, beyond Torrijos, Jorge Ureña (gold in heptathlon), Cristina Ferrnado (gold in high jump), Alexis Sastre (gold in pentathlon), Miguel Ángel Sancho (bronze in high jump), Emilio Bellido (bronze in triple jump) and Jorge Dávila (bronze in heptathlon).
