Javi Calleja recognises that the Copa del Rey is an exciting tournament to be involved in and believes the team has to be at its best to beat the side from Alicante
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the press this Thursday to analyse the build-up to the cup duel with Orihuela CF. The Submarine boss underlined that the Copa del Rey is a tournament that excites the Yellows: “For us, it’s an important competition that allows us to dream about making history. We want to go far, and to do that, we need to beat Orihuela.”
Calleja underlined that the good performance against Comillas should be a basis for how to go into the game at Los Arcos (Saturday, 9pm CET): “We’ll see a very recognisable Villarreal. I want us to keep the same attitude we had against Comillas. We can’t relax because they’re a good side who can make things difficult for us. We need to put in a good performance to go through.”
Finally, he hailed his side’s excellent sporting moment: “We’re on a very good run. There’s a great atmosphere in the dressing room and the results are going along with that. The team is confident in what it’s doing and we want to fight to be in the European spots in the league and go as far as possible in the cup.”
