Villarreal CF and SanSan Festival have officially launched the music contest which will begin this Friday

Villarreal CF and SanSan festival have officially launched the music competition that will be held before matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The decision was made in the Ciudad Deportiva press room which was attended by the Villarreal vice-president, José Manuel Llaneza; and Roberto Recuero, the director of festivals for Sonde3 Producciones. Representatives from “La era del pez” and “The Sigmunds” groups were also present.

Bloeman, the first contestant in the Groc Talent competition

This Friday marks the start of the Groc Talent contest in the Estadio de la Cerámica Fan Zone with Bloeman’s performance at 8pm. Groc Talent stems from the agreement between Villarreal CF and SanSan Festival within the Endavant Culture initiative and is co-organised with the City Council of Vila-real. Nine groups will participate and the prize for the winner will be performing at the Benicàssim festival in 2020. This Friday is the turn of Bloeman, who started writing songs at the age of 17. After a lot of hard work, in 2019 he has performed at the Zigzag festival 2019 and on stage at Jumping del Rototom Sunsplash. The Mexican will entertain the Yellow fans with some reggae music.

Llaneza: “It’s a project with an exciting future”

The Villarreal CF vice-president, José Manuel Llaneza, appeared very excited by the prospect of launching the music competition: “It’s a project with an exciting future. Nine groups from the Castellón province will perform before matches. 17 applied, however in the end only nine were selected. The winner will perform at the SanSan Festival. We are offering a huge opportunity to these groups, allowing them to perform in a very important festival.”

Roberto Recuero: “We want to discover the musical talent in Castellón”

The Sonde3 Producciones festival director, Roberto Recuero, has assured that this idea allows us to go beyond the economic impact that a festival as important as the SanSan Festival can have in 2020: “We are very excited to take part in this project. In this edition of SanSan we want to go a bit further. Our idea is significant with respect to tourism and social transformation. This talent competition brings us closer to this social transformation. The impact should not only be economic. What better way than to count on the support of Villarreal CF, which has many fans. We want to encourage young talent so the winner of this competition will participate in SanSan. It is a pleasure and an honour to present this contest. Long live Groc Talent.”

Finally, Roberto Recuero re-enforced that there will be all kinds of styles at Groc Talent: “The SanSan Festival opens up to new trends. We are used to indie, pop and rock, but Bloeman for example sings reggae. What we want to discover is the musical talent that exists in the province of Castellón”.

Voting system

Voting will open at 12pm on the Monday following each performance, and will remain open until the same time the following Monday. Yellow fans can vote on the official website (GROC TALENT), giving each performance a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the lowest score and 5 the highest). Once all performances have taken place, the three artists who receive the most votes will progress to the grand final. The overall score will consist of the votes from the public, Villarreal CF and the SanSan management team.

The final, for which the date and location is still to be confirmed, will take place between the 16^th and 22^nd March 2020. On this occasion, a professional jury will decide the winner of the contest who will take part in the seventh edition of the SanSan Festival in Benicàssim.
