Manu Morlanes underlines that winning is always important, even if the matches are only pre-season games
Villarreal midfielder Manu Morlanes, speaking after the win against Levante (1-2) that it is always important to win, even if the matches are only pre-season games, with regards to the team’s morale. The Yellow Submarine have two wins from two in their first pre-season friendlies. “Second match, second win. We shouldn’t focus too much on the result, because the most important thing is to get into rhythm and a good place, but I think winning is always important, even if it is only in pre-season,” he commented.
For Morlanes, the team is comfortable when in possessio of the ball: “Javi is a gaffer who asks us to have the ball, to be protagonists of the play. At the start, it’s not easy, because your legs aren’t as fresh as they are in the middle of the season, but this is fixed through minutes.”
With regards to his fitness, the Yellows footballer recognised that there is still a long way to go: “On a personal level, I feel very good. On Saturday, I felt better than in the first match. It’s hard to take conclusions from a pre-season game, but after what happened last season, it’s always positive to win against an opponent we’ll face in LaLiga.”
To conclude, Morlanes underlined the importance of having players like Santi Cazorla: “With Santi, playing is a luxury. He’s one of the best midfielders in European football and I hope to learn from him. I’m sure that developing alongside players like him will help me grow as a footballer.”
