Simón Moreno was the man behind the historic 500th goal in the win over Atlético Levante (1-3)
Villarreal B this afternoon against Atlético Levante scored their 500th goal in Segunda División B. The honour fell to Simón Moreno, who made it 1-0 from the penalty spot after a foul on Enric Franquesa. Later on, the Mini Submarine scored two more goals, both own goals from opposition players, which brings their total of goals in Segunda B to 502.
502 goals in nine seasons
Villarreal B made their debut in the third tier of Spanish football in the 2007/08 season. Since then, they have been in Group 3 of Segunda B for nine seasons, every year since their debut, apart from the three when the team competed in Segunda División, the second tier. That is an achievement that they were close to obtaining once more last season, and is still something that could happen this season. The Yellows’ second team have scored 502 goals in those nine years.
