The Yellows reserves dominated and had clear goalscoring chances against a direct playoff rival
Without a cutting edge. Villarreal B drew against UE Cornellà at the Mini Estadi in a match where the Yellows reserves deserved to win. At the end of the game, it was a share of the points between two sides who will be fighting for the promotion playoffs.
Miguel Álvarez’s side had control from the start of the match, with clear chances to score. The best of the first half came from an Iván Martín header which only did not go in because of a fantastic save from the Cornellà goalkeeper.
The Yellows reserves continued pushing after the break. Cornellà’s packed defence made Villarreal B attack wide. From there, Miguel and Martín played important roles, creating a lot of danger on the right.
The clearest chance in the second half also fell to Martín. The talented midfielder headed a Chuca corner towards goal, but was denied by the post.
Next up for Villarreal B is an away trip to Atlético Levante.
