Bonera believes that the Espanyol tie shows the route to take to beat Valladolid
Italian defender Daniele Bonera appeared in front of the press to analyse the current situation Villarreal find themselves in. The Yellows No.23 underlined that the Yellow Submarine took a step forward after the match against RCD Espanyol: “We played well for 70 minutes. After we stepped off the gas a bit and that cost us. The logical result, given what happened on the pitch, would have been for us to win the match, at least 2-1 or 3-1. I think last Sunday’s match will serve to strengthen the work that we’ve been doing.”
Furthermore, Bonera underlined the team’s commitment in the current sporting situation they find themselves in: “We are all mentally prepared for the moment we find ourselves in. All the squad is committed and ready to put in the hard work to move away from the bottom. And we’re going to do it like that. We’re not scared, we only have 16 matches left to get the points we need to stay in the league.”
Finally, the centre-back highlighted the importance to get a win against Real Valladolid: “It’s a vital match. Winning would help us take a really important step forward, but it’s not the end. After, we need to carry on fighting both in LaLiga and the Europa League.”
