Arnau Calas and Jordi Mata are the goalkeepers for one of the Yellows Academy’s best defensive sides
Houses are built on their foundations. In the football world, goalscorers often take all the praise, but this time, it is the goalkeepers who take centre stage. Specifically, those from Villarreal’s U10s A (Benjamín A), who are notably contributing to their team’s spectacular season.
In fact, the U10s A are one of the sides with the fewest goals scored against them in all of the Yellows Academy. Arnau Calas Romero and Jordi Mata Flor have let in just 15 goals so far this season (14 matches). A fantastic amount, especially considering that it is 8-a-s9de, with matches often seeing a lot of goals on the scoreboard.
The U10s A’s defensive stability is a real stand out feature. The side, coached by Mario Bárcena, Vicente Masiá, Antonio Olmo, Carlos Moreno, David Segarra and Karim Hamidi have scored 70 goals so far this season, the second-most at their age level.
Arnau and Jordi have the minutes on the pitch, something crucial to their growth as goalkeepers. Both of them are performing at an excellent level. They often make great saves throughout the matches, something that instils trust in them from their colleageis.
The U10s A are currently top of their table after drawing against third-placed Valencia this weekend. The Yellows have 40 points after 13 wins and a draw. If they carry on like this, success is surely around the corner. Whatever happens, the goal is well-protected, with two top-class ‘keepers in Arnau and Jordi.
