The Yellows were unable to break down the home side’s defensive wall (2-0).
Villarreal B fell short during their visit to La Almozara (2-0). Miguel Álverez’s side were not able to beat a hard-working and effective CE Ebro side, who took the leader after a contentious penalty and got further in front from a corner midway through the second half.
The first half an hour was a battle for the ball. Without great chances, both teams fought for the ball and tried to get on top of, without success, their opponent. However, in the 32nd minute, the referee decided there had been a foul in the box and gave a controversial penalty to the home side. Raúl stepped up and put his side ahead, with Joan Femenías just fingertips away.
The Yellows tried to react, but were unable to get past a hardworking, effective home defence, which didn’t offer anything at all. In the second half, with Miguel Álvarez’s side searching for the draw, CD Ebro managed to get their second from a corner, with Raúl getting his second.
With the side from Aragón 2-0 up, the Yellow Submarine took control of the game and tried to score, but were unable to get past the hardworking home defence.
The Mini Submarine will return to action next weekend at home to Teruel.
