The Castellón born midfielder has six assists in LaLiga and assures that the “best Fornals is yet to come”
He runs, he scores and he creates. Pablo Fornals has become one of Villarreal’s key players since his arrival from Málaga CF last summer. The Castellón born midfielder has six assists in LaLiga which ties him for the third most assists in the league so far this season.
As well as being the Yellows playmaker, in the last few weeks Fornals has also netted two hugely important goals against RC Celta de Vigo and Real Madrid, that gave Villarreal two remarkable victories: “We’re on the right lines. We’ve picked up wins against big teams and that gives us confidence. Our aim is to try to perform even better in the second half of the season, even better than the first”, the Yellows number 8 stated, who is also the seventh midfielder with the most shots in domestic competition.
Despite the great level of performance he showed in the first round of games, the versatile footballer said that he may be in good form at the moment, but can still improve a lot: “In general, we’re in good form. I’m playing in a difficult position, but it’s where I feel comfortable. It gives me freedom to move where I want and to be on the ball. I believe that the best Pablo Fornals is yet to come though”.
The Yellow Submarine’s tireless playmaker, who is the player to run the most kilometres per match for Villarreal, stresses how difficult the return legs of each fixture will be: “It’s even more difficult now. Every team has requirements and they want to achieve their respective objectives”. Lastly, he affirmed that Villarreal are focusing on picking up three points every game at La Cerámica: “This weekend we’ve got another tough match against Real Sociedad. We want to put on a good display and try to beat a team that we lost to in the first match against them this season”.
