Villarreal U23 will take on Tottenham Hotspur U23 this Tuesday at 7pm GMT/8pm CET
The Yellows U23 side will play their third match in the Group stage of the Premier League International Cup this Tuesday. Miguel Álvarez’s side are participating in this prestigious tournament with the aim of going very far. In fact, just two seasons ago, the Yellows were crowned champions of the competition after beat PSV Eindhoven in the final.
After beating SL Benfica 3-2 and West Ham 0-3, this Tuesday the Yellow Submarine will take on Tottenham Hotspur at 8pm (7pm in England) at the Lamex Stadium. If Villarreal U23 win they will qualify for the Quarter Finals of the tournament as winners of Group F and if they draw the Yellows will have to see how the other games go in the group. There are 6 groups and the 2 best runners-up also qualify for the next round. Villarreal CF currently lead Group F with 6 points, 3 more than Tottenham, but Spurs have only played one match so far.
The objective of the U23 Premier League International Cup is to encourage and enrich youth football on British soil by providing a superior training experience with the inclusion of teams from the strongest European leagues. The Premier League has chosen 12 English teams and 12 European clubs, with a distinguished Reserve team tradition, to participate and among those is Villarreal CF.
The list of players travelling to England to face Spurs are:
- Goalkeepers: Diego Fuoli and Josele.
- Defenders: Juan ‘Ibiza’, Pau, Franquesa, Ramón Bueno, Genís, Roger Riera and Quintillà.
- Midfielders: Lozano, Pedrito, Cedrés, Imanol and Chuca.
- Strikers: Simón Moreno, Franco Acosta, Mario González and Darío Poveda.
Travel Plan
The Yellows set off from Valencia Airport this morning with destination London Gatwick. The return flight is the day after the match on Wednesday 15th November, with an ETA of 8:45pm CET in Valencia. The U23 will be staying at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel during their stay in England.
Villarreal U23 are in Group F of the competition alongside SL Benfica, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

- Group B: Hertha BSC, Legia Warsaw, Leicester City y Sunderland.

- Group F: Villarreal Sub-23, SL Benfica, Tottenham Hotspur y West Ham United.
