Fran Escribá says Villarreal’s solid defensive performance was key to getting the win vs Celta
The Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, was proud of the Yellows win against Celta de Vigo, in a match in which the Submarine showed once again just how solid they are defensively, preventing the sky blues from creating any clear goal scoring opportunities. “I think it was match that we were in control of at all times and they hardly created any chances. We did not really suffer so it was a great game for us in that respect. This team is very solid defensively speaking and, apart from the last 20 minutes, we didn’t suffer and they didn’t create any chances. It’s a privilege to coach the team to have conceded the fewest goals in LaLiga”.
With regard to having moved back into fifth place and being able to aspire to fourth, Escribá explained that there is still plenty of the league to go, but the most important thing is to be in European spots. “There are enough points left up for grabs to be able to fight for fourth place. We can fight to be in the top zone, but we also know that if we relax we’ll be out of it, and what we want is to be in Europe next year”.
