The Villarreal Manager said the team must be “strong defensively” against Deportivo
At midday today, Villarreal CF Manager Fran Escribá, stated that the key to tomorrow’s match against RC Deportivo de la Coruña (8:45pm CET, beIN Sports) will be defensive intensity against a physically strong opponent: “I expect a tough match. Deportivo are an intense team that scored five goals against Real Sociedad. They have some key players out, but they’re a dangerous team. It’s also expected to rain so it will be a real fight”.
For Escribá, set plays could decide the match: “Deportivo have a good team with a great weapon that is their set play game, as they have a lot of tall players. They’re a team that have improved as the season has gone on. The key will be for us to be strong defensively. Deportivo are very intense. Andone is a reflection of that, he is a striker that never gives up on a ball”.
Villarreal sit in fifth place in the league table just one point behind Atlético de Madrid, that are occupying the last Champions League spot. “The level of Spanish teams is getting better and better and tyhis makes it very difficult to qualify for European football. The weeks go by and there is not a big difference in the points between teams. We’re going to keep going for it until the end”, Escribá concluded.
