Fernando Roig, Javier Tebas and José Benlloch satisfied after the presentation of the stadium’s new name
Satisfaction. This is the best word to describe how Villarreal CF President, Fernando Roig, LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, and the Mayor of Vila-real, José Benlloch, felt this evening after the presentation of the stadium’s new name, which from today onwards will be called ‘Estadio de la Cerámica’. Furthermore, they all emphasized that “everybody wins” with this remodelling of the stadium.
Fernando Roig was extremely proud: “Our stadium has evolved on its path of constant improvement. With this renovation we all win. It makes me proud to be able to present this project. We’ve been planning it since 2000, although we only started to negotiate and carry out these plans in 2015. It was in June 2016 when we reached the agreement and at the end of that same month we began the building work. In less than six months the new stadium has taken shape”.
The Yellows President highlighted the importance of the renovation: “It is a regenerative project for the town. It is a project that falls in line with the club’s philosophy. Access has been improved, we have a new shop, we have more space and a place to add a club museum in the near future. What’s more, the town has gained a new, modern plaza (square) for public use, with toilets, as well as a new sports hall in another part of the town, as Villarreal CF was obliged to rebuild one where the City Council wanted”.
Fernando Roig also showed his gratitude to the companies involved (PAMESA, PORCELANOSA and ARGENTA CERÁMICA as Main Sponsors; and TAU CERÁMICA, BESTILE, ESMALGLASS-ITACA and COLOROBBIA as Official Sponsors): “I would like to thank all the sponsoring companies. Those of us that are in the project represent 30% of the ceramic sector in Spain and we believe that more will join”.
Finally, Roig added that this tremendous remodeling has still not finished: “But this is just the beginning, we are only at 25% of what we want the stadium to be. Next year we are going to remodel the Main Stand (Tribuna) and put a museum in the stadium and I believe that we will have everything finished within four years”.
Javier Tebas: “This is an example of how all stadiums have to be”
For his part, LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, was full of praise for the ‘Estadio de la Cerámica’ project: “Having stadiums like this benefits all of us, the town, the club and all the clubs in LaLiga. This an example of how all stadiums have to be”.
José Benlloch: “Vila-real is becoming the capital of the ceramic industry”
The Mayor of Vila-real, José Benlloch, was also very satisfied after the presentation of the new stadium name: “Vila-real is becoming the capital of the ceramic industry. This industry generates a lot of opportunities. What better ambassador than Villarreal CF to take the Spanish ‘Cerámica’ trade around the world. The ceramic industry is our past, present and future”.
