The Yellows third team equalized against Orihuela in a match full of misfortune
It was a heroic draw by the Villarreal C team against Orihuela, after the Yellows’ third team suffered a series of unfortunate events in succession: two injuries, a penalty against them and then an unfair sending off that meant the team played more than 50 minutes with a player down. Despite all their bad luck, Carlos Pérez Salvachúa’s side drew and extend their run to 13 matches unbeaten. In fact, they have gone undefeated for the entire season so far.
The Villarreal C team had two players injured early on, Nikola and Arnau, which forced the Manager to make some unexpected changes. What’s more, Genís was wrongfully sent off in the 39th minute, which also meant Carlos Pérez Salvachúa had to make another sub to restructure the team. And all this before half time.
The match started well. Simón Moreno scored a great goal early on, controlling the ball from a free kick and hitting a bullet of a shot on the turn, which was unstoppable for the locals’ goalkeeper José Carlos.
Then, Orihuela turned the match around in the space of three minutes. They equalized in the 76th minute with a goal by Brian, while after it was Raúl who scored after a counterattack.
It seemed like the game was lost, but then Chuca emerged and left his mark on the match. The midfielder scored the decisive second for the locals, a superbly executed free kick that flew into the top corner to equalize. Outstanding.
