Villarreal CF President, Fernando Roig, analysed all aspects of the club at the 2016/17 Gala
Villarreal CF President, Fernando Roig, reviewed the season that has just come to a close at the 2016/17 Presentation Gala, held at the Vila-real Auditorium: “It has been an extraordinary season. It will be our fourth year participating in the Champions League and we finished fourth in LaLiga. The Villarreal B team also had a great season, we fell just short in the end but we hope we can get the long desired and deserved promotion next season. The Villarreal C team also finished towards the top of their table and lastly, the Villarreal U19s won the league and are in the Semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. All in all, it has been a brilliant season”.
Furthermore, Roig expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support throughout the season: “The most important thing is what the fans represent; all the stadium attendance statistics make us proud. We are doing something right with this campaign to receive all this support. We reward attendance, we reward the fans that stand by us”.
In addition, the Yellows President highlighted the great work on the financial front: “The club has a very sound economy. We’re comfortable and an example for all clubs. All revenue is being invested in the club’s future. We have managed to bring hopes and dreams to a whole town and to all Villarreal fans”.
Finally, the Villarreal CF President wanted to pass on an ambitious message for next season to all those who attended the Gala: “We have to have a better team than last year and worse than the year after next. We’re going to put together a good team and we’re also going to renovate the stadium. To make this a great club, we have to do great things and count on the great fans that we have. Once again, thank you very much to the fans”.
