Marcelino emphasizes the competitiveness and great level Villarreal showed tonight
The Villarreal manager, Marcelino García Toral, highlighted that the result of tonight’s match against Celta (0-0) is positive for the team, who showed their capacity to compete and how difficult it is to beat them. “We came here to get the three points, but a point has also made us happy. It was a tough game, but this result means we keep our distance from Celta in the league table and just proves how hard it is to beat us. We’re very satisfied with how the players are performing, of the work they put in and of the level of competition they are demonstrating week in week out”.
Nevertheless, in the managers eyes it’s fundamental to improve in certain areas. “ We had five good chances today, the best from the last few games. We didn’t score, but we attacked well in the first half. Where as in the second half an hour we gave away the ball too easily and didn’t create much danger. We lost the ball too much and because of this our attacking game was non-existent as we didn’t provide the strikers with good service”.
In addition, the Submarine manager praised the physical condition of his players. “They always play to a high tempo, but we must also recognize that we need to improve on the last 25 minutes. Today there was a bit of tiredness. I could say that I’m really satisfied and proud, but I’m not completely satisfied because, of course, we always want to win”.
