Setién: “The team always goes out to win”

The Yellows head coach expects a competitive match against a very tough opponent

Villarreal CF head coach, Quique Setién, has appeared before the media at the press conference prior to the match against Cádiz, which will be played tomorrow Friday, at 7:30pm CEST, at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

The match against Cádiz

“They are a team that are more prepared defensively, but they also know how to attack. Last season we struggled in the early stages of the game and they had a few chances that caused us problems. They are a tough team with players with a lot of quality, pace and who can put you under pressure.”

How he is facing the game

“We approach every game in the same way. We will have the ball and therefore we have to avoid losing so that they don’t hurt us on the counter-attack. Defensively, we have to read the game well and always know how to be well positioned.”

Improving match by match

“The obligation and need to win is always there and the team always goes for it. The need to win points exists in every game, then there is the efficiency we have, which is independent of our desire. In general terms, I’m very happy with the things we do well, but I think there are always things to improve and I insist on this a lot.”

Yeremy Pino

“He was already on the bench last week. We’ll have to gauge how long he can be on the pitch. The chances of him playing tomorrow are higher, as he has trained practically every day with the group this week. We’ll see if he plays from the start, what he plays, or what we give him at the end.”

Potential Baena call-up by Spain

“I think Baena is an exceptional player, with extraordinary conditions, but with room for improvement like everyone else. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was called up, because he’s played some very good games, but it’s the national team coach’s decision.”
