The Roda U19 team is the side with the most Spanish internationals in the Yellows Academy

Hearts that are Spanish Red and Villarreal Yellow. Up to seven players from the Roda U19s are Spain youth internationals and have been key for Pere Martí’s side so far this season. It is no surprise that they’re one of the revelations of the ‘División de Honor’. The team is currently in third place in Group VII, led by the Villarreal U19 A team. Things could not be going better. Marc Vidal, Pedro García, Goyo Medina, Jorge Galdón, Carlos Beitia, Diego Lamadrid and Nacho Díaz all represent the Yellows Academy for Spain. And they are regulars too, something that does not bother the Manager at all, as he recognizes it is a reward for their hard work.

The Roda U19 team is the Yellows Academy team with the most internationals. What’s more, there are many other young Yellows that are Spain internationals, or have been recently, such as Darío Poveda, Morlanes, Aixa Salvador, Nuria Pomer, Fonda and Pepe Castaño, among others. U16 palyers Javi Cendón, Miguel Opere, Carlos Mangada, Iván Morante, Álex Baena and Diego Collado also deserve a special mention. A long list of promising footballers.

One of the captains of the Roda U19 team is Diego Lamadrid. The Cantabrian centre midfielder has played three seasons at the Yellows Academy and is proud to be a part of a team consisting of so many internationals: “I’m extremely proud. To represent your country and also Villarreal is a privilege, for me and my teammates. It is an honour because there have always been many internationals at this club. It’s a great experience”.

With regard to Roda U19s’ excellent performance so far this season in the División de Honor, Lamadrid said the secret is in the daily grind: “Things are going well. We’re working hard and the results are coming . We know how important it is to finish the season strong”. The future is safe.
