After two injuries, a sending off, a missed penalty and another one scored against them, the B team lose to Amorebieta

Villarreal B lost at Lezama against SD Amorebieta (2-0) after a series of misfortunes that decided the match.

Miguel Álvarez’s men created the first dangerous chance through a good individual move by Novoa, who finished, but Magunagoitia saved the shot. Later on, there were setbacks. Forés went off injured after a heavy challenge from an opponent and Jorge Pascual replaced him. Even so, the Yellows kept trying hard and Espigares, with a header, and Requena from the edge of the area also had the chance to score the first goal of the afternoon.

At the start of the second half, there was no end to the bad luck for the reserve team. After two minutes, Espigares was sent off for committing a (dubious) foul when he was the last man. Furthermore, eight minutes later, the VAR pointed to a penalty in favour of the Mini Submarine, but Magunagoitia saved Ontiveros’ shot.

Later, Pablo Iñiguez also had a knock. Marcos Sánchez replaced him and Miguel Álvarez had to improvise a centre-back pairing with Pau and Tasende. Marcos himself committed a penalty that condemned Villarreal B, as Unzueta did not miss the chance. In the 99th minute, Edwards scored the definitive 2-0 from the third rebound to seal the game.

Villarreal B will need the support of all the fans next Monday 20th May against Albacete at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
