Javi Calleja praised Villarreal’s competitiveness in a complete performance
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the press to analyse the Yellows’ imposing victory against CD Leganés (0-3). The Yellows manager underlined his satisfaction at his team’s performance in Butarque: “We’ve come away with a great result, but I’m happiest with how we competed. We put in a really complete game. Everything we worked on during the week paid off. I’m going away very happy also because we got our first win.”
Furthermore, Calleja positively valued the Yellows’ reading of the game: “We were very good with the ball. We didn’t make mistakes and we knew how to kill of the game. Not conceding is very important. Up front we have top-quality players, who can allow us to score. We need to be loyal to this style. To be brave and attacking, without leaving it too open at the back.”
Finally, he hailed Gerard Moreno’s performance, with his five goals this season making him LaLiga top scorer: “He’s putting in a brilliant start to the season, scoring a lot of goals. He’s a committed player and works harder than anyone. He’s using his individual quality to help the team and the collective performance is helping him shine.”
