Miguel Álvarez highlights Deportivo Alavés’ attacking potential ahead of the clash (Monday, 9pm CET)

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez gave a press conference ahead of Monday’s match at 9pm CET against Deportivo Alavés. Here is what the coach had to say:

The state of the team

“Physically they are doing well. I expect a very difficult game. In the last six games, they have scored 16 goals and conceded only four. It will be difficult, but I hope we can win and enjoy it.”

The fans

“We need them to come. It’s important. We know it’s not the best time or the best day, but hopefully they will come because football with fans is better.”

Keys to winning

“The key is to be solid because they are a team with immense attacking potential with players like Antonio Blanco, Villalibre… Then we will always do interesting things in attack because of the talent we will have on the ball.”

Excitement to play teams like Alavés

“A year ago the first team was playing at Alavés’ ground. This is great for the club. It’s a team with tremendous numbers, with enormous potential… all of this is an incentive for the boys to play a great game, to compete because this is the only way to get close to winning. The boys have already internalised playing at the Estadio de la Cerámica.”

Players returning to the first team to allow B team players to return to the Mini Submarine

“Anyone who wants to be in Villarreal B knows that there is a price to pay. The reality is that we have to train, play, win in a very complicated division, but at the same time we have to help the first team, without a doubt, when they need it. For all these reasons, getting promoted from the Primera RFEF into the second tier has a lot of merit. That’s why I’m going to continue believing in the boys.”
