Villarreal B win at Anxo Carro thanks to goals from Millán and Lozano
Villarreal B beat direct rivals CD Lugo away from home (1-2) thanks to goals from Álex Millán and Sergio Lozano which gave the Mini Submarine the victory.
The first chance did not take long to arrive. Lozano played a masterful first-time pass for Millán and Antonio Pacheco to run onto and Lozano shot unsuccessfully at goal from a bouncing ball. Four minutes later, Señé tried to test Iker Álvarez, but his volley went wide. Haissem Hassan, after a good move down the right flank, had the chance to hit back, but Óscar was again on hand to deny the visitors.
The start of the second half was thrilling. VAR signalled a penalty for handball in favour of the Mini Submarine, but Óscar saved Lozano’s spot-kick. Just two minutes later, there was another penalty for a challenge on Millán in the box and the striker was on hand to convert the spot-kick himself, scoring his first goal in LaLiga SmartBank for the B team. Alberto was sent off for a second yellow for the foul committed.
The game went crazy after the hour mark. Cuellar scored the equaliser for the home side when he had just entered the field of play. In the next piece of play, Lozano put Miguel Álvarez’s side ahead again with a header that hit the post before going in.
The Mini Submarine returned to winning ways five games later against an opponent that was in dire need of points. The reserve team’s next match will be on Saturday 28th January at 6:15pm CET against Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere.
