Sara Monforte underlined her excitement for the start of Liga F (Saturday, 4pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media ahead of the Yellows’ match against Real Madrid, Matchday 1 of the 2022/23 Liga F season. The match will take place on Saturday 10th September at 4pm CEST, at the Miralcamp Training Ground.
Start of the league season
“The start of the league is against teams of a high level, because we have to play against the teams that finished third (Real Madrid), second (Real Sociedad) and first (FC Barcelona) last season. We are aware that we are not at the best moment, because that will come later on, but the team is in a good place, in the process and we are going to play a great game. We want to take another step forward and consolidate our position.”
The opposition
“We know it’s going to be a difficult game against a team that is going to fight for the title. Real Madrid are a team that dominate, try to push you into your own half and who manage to generate width with their wingers. Therefore, we have to know how to counteract that and we have to know when to be brave or cold to suffer. We also want the bench to contribute.”
Fans
“We are Villarreal CF, it doesn’t matter if it’s the men’s first team, Villarreal B or the U19s, for example. We are a club and, as such, people have to come and support us. There’s a lot of fun, there’s excitement and every day there’s a higher level.”
Aims
“The objective is to stay up. I like to work with progress and learning. The season will take us to see our final objective.”
