Unai Emery underlines that Villarreal will need to capitalise on their chances against a Betis team in good form

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery has appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming game against Real Betis (Sunday, 6:30pm CET), corresponding to Matchday 23 of the current LaLiga Santander season, which will take place at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. These are the key things that he had to say:

Recover numbers

“Breaks always have consequences. Sometimes they’re positive, and sometimes they’re not. We’ve had a tough January, with a number of absentees. This time, it’s helped us get people back. It did feel quite long, but we’re grateful for it. We’re going into the game in perfect shape. We hope to perform well. Betis are the most in-form team in LaLiga. Pellegrini is doing the perfect job, managing the group and finding the right performance. It’s a tough challenge because they’re third with 40 points. The players know the importance of the match.”

An extremely important game

We need to focus on LaLiga, which is the most important competition. We’re facing a direct rival, who have been better than us so far this season. It’s a good match in a great stadium.

Lo Celso

“Giovani is a player I know, because I had him at PSG. At Betis, he was great and that helped him go to Tottenham. When the possibility of bringing him in came up, we did so because he’s a versatile player. With him, we will try and be better.”

Full of motivation

“We need to be motivated. In LaLiga, we haven’t been able to find consistency. We need to play with personality, have control of the game at times and defend like lions when they’re attacking. There will be moments when defending will be very important. Building on that, we need to know how to manage our moments.”
