Sara Monforte has underlined the importance of getting points direct opponents such as against Real Betis (Sunday, 12pm CET)

Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media ahead of the Yellows’ upcoming match against Real Betis, corresponding to Matchday 8 of the 2022/23 Finetwork Liga F season. The match will take place on Sunday 6th November at 12pm CET at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.

Here are the key points she had to make:

The opposition and the mtatch

“Betis are a team who have been in the top flight for a long time. It is true that they are not going through the best of moments, but they have players of great quality in their ranks. For us it’s a very important game because we’re up against a direct rival and, for that reason, we’ll be looking for the three points.”

The keys to the game

“We have to be ourselves. They will take as few risks as possible and, for that reason, we have to carry the weight of the game, know how to manage the tempo and keep our concentration for the whole 90 minutes, which is something we lacked yesterday against Real Madrid.”

Proud of her players

“I want to send them the message that they played a great game yesterday against one of the best teams in the competition, Real Madrid. For several stretches of the game they were able to dominate a team that today has nine internationals. I am very proud of them and their work over the last few games.”

Rotations

“We have a large squad in which we can count on any player. We will have to see how many of them are after yesterday’s great effort.”

The importance of the fans

“Yesterday I watched the game from the stands and I felt a great satisfaction. I want to thank all the people who come to cheer and I invite them to continue to do so because they are very important. The players themselves tell me that every game.”
