“We need to be solid and impose ourselves at Balaídos”

Unai Emery underlined that it will be a ‘tough and difficult’ game ahead one of LaLiga’s most in-form teams (Friday, 9pm CET)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media in a remote press conference this lunchtime to analyse the upcoming league game against RC Celta at Balaídos (Friday, 9pm CET). “It’s an important game to show where we’re at against an opponent who are in good form, like RC Celta. They’re going to demand a lot from us, and it’s an exciting challenge for us, to see how we can respond. That’s where we’d like to take a step forward.”

The Submarine manager underlined that the game will be tough: “There are going to be a number of occasions where we will want to impose our ideas, but they’re an opponent full of confidence, despite being knocked out in the cup. We need to be prepared to play as a team and it will be key to stay solid throughout the 90 minutes. It will be a tough test, and a difficult one, too.”

Finally, Emery underlined the importance of the game to continue fighting to end the season in a European spot: “We want to be excited, we want to be demanding of ourselves, and we want to able of competing against the strongest teams in the league. Tomorrow’s match is important to be able to make those draws in the last month into good results, and to keep being consistent and keeping up the high level of performance we demand of ourselves.”
