Quique Setién trusts the unity of the squad to get the three points against RCD Espanyol
Villarreal CF head coach, Quique Setién, appeared before the media in the press conference ahead of the game against RCD Espanyol, corresponding to Matchday 14 of LaLiga Santander 2022/23, which will be played tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8pm CET, at the RCDE Stadium. The coach has insisted on the unity of the group to get back to winning ways and has been optimistic about tomorrow’s game against Espanyol.
Speaking about the match against the Catalan side (Wednesday, 8pm CET), Setién said: “It’s going to be a hard-fought and complicated game, like all of them. They will also come with a good level of confidence after the point they got the other day against Atlético de Madrid, which is extremely valuable. It will be a game with a lot of alternatives, but I’m sure that we will compete and show a good version of ourselves to have a chance of winning the game.”
He also stressed the importance of getting back to winning ways so that the group can gain confidence: “It’s very important and it makes things easier. Winning tomorrow would be a great stimulus to reinforce certain aspects within the squad.”
“We have had great control of the ball and of the game in the moments when we have been good, being able to take the ball into the opposition half on numerous occasions, to filter passes inside and to know how to defend by managing the ball from the back,” said Setién when asked about the positive aspects of the team so far.
Finally, Setién assured that his desire to play a great role at the club remains intact: “I’m very motivated and sure that this is going to move in the right direction. I have to try to convince everyone and I’m sure we’re going to do it, as we all have to pull in the same direction.”
