The Yellows beat Levante thanks to two Belén Martínez goals and win ten games later
Villarreal Women returned to winning ways after ten games without doing so, beating Levante 1-2. They did it with a great performance where they had to dig in. Belén Martínez scored the two goals for the Yellows, but Levante managed to cut the lead in added time through Cometti. The last second were stressful, but the Submarine hung on. They hadn’t tasted victory since Matchday 2 against Eibar, despite having deserved the three points on a number of occasions.
The Yellows started the game focused, knowing how important the three points up for grabs were. The clearest chances of the first half went to Villarreal. Belén, Raquel Pinel, Lara Mata y Sheila Guijarro all could have made it 0-1.
The opener came at the start of the second half. Only a few seconds had passed from kick-off when Sheila started a counter attack finished by Belén (m.46). The goal gave the Yellows confidence, who could have increased their lead moments later, with Belén going close when she went through on goal.
The Submarine’s second also came from Belén. She spotted the opposing goalkeeper in a strange position and scored with a long-range effort (m.75). In added time, Levante cut one back through Cometti, which set up a tense end to the game.
