Villarreal renew the ‘Cátedra Endavant’ with the Jaume I University

The club extends its association until 2026 and increases its annual contribution by €10,000 to €60,000, mainly for scholarships for student athletes

Villarreal CF has renewed the collaboration agreement with the Jaume I University (UJI) for the next three years, increasing the annual contribution by €10,000 to €60,000, an amount intended to increase the amount allocated to scholarships for university sportsmen and women and to grant mobility aid for elite sportsmen and women within the academic framework.

The agreement between the two entities was signed on Wednesday by the president of Villarreal CF, Fernando Roig, and the rector of the Jaume I University, Eva Alcón.

Villarreal CF and the Jaume I University have been working together for more than two decades. However, the relationship between the two institutions was formalised in 2015 with the creation of the Cátedra Endavant Villarreal CF del Deporte project, whose objectives are the promotion of training and research in the field of sport, the promotion of sporting practice and competition through scholarships for university students. In addition to the call for scholarships and mobility grants for elite athletes, the Cátedr’as regular activities include the organisation of congresses on sport, training courses at the UJI’s School of Sports Training, research projects on physical activity and sport and the dissemination of their results in high-impact scientific journals, as well as the joint celebration of other activities of an educational or informative nature.

Through the Endavant Formació project, part of the club’s Endavant CSR and sustainability programme, Villarreal CF promotes education and training in our province, maintaining collaboration agreements with the two university centres in Castellón, the UJI and the CEU, as well as with the IES Miralcamp secondary school. The main framework of these agreements is mainly focused on promoting the growth of student athletes as well as improving training, research, dissemination of knowledge and innovation in both the social and sporting spheres.
