Villarreal CF will continue supporting, for yet another year, the prestigious Penyagolosa Trails. This sporting event is an unmissable date for trail lovers and is a unique opportunity to discover cultural and natural delights of the province of Castellón, which is why the Submarine supports it through the Endavant Esports project.

Penyagolosa Trails yesterday fired the starting gun on the 2022 edition, with the presentation and traditional draw at the Diputació de Castelló council building. The number drawn out was 1475, so the numbers that can be worn to take part in the MiM are from one to 75 and from 1475 to 2599, while in the CSP, all registered will have the option for a shirt for the edition that takes place between 22nd and 24th April.

Penyagolosa Trails is back in style after the break in 2020 provoked by the pandemic. In October last year, it returned and there were nearly 4,000 registrations from 41 different countries and 44 different Spanish provinces. Numbers that once more show the great interest in Penyagolosa Trails, a leading event in trail running both nationally and internationally.

Yesterday’s event was hosted by Depa, and was atended by the Diptuación de Castelló president José Marti, government delegate in Castellón Soledad Ten, council delegate Eva Redondo, council secretary for culture and sport Rauqel Tamarit, provincial sports councillor Tania Baños and Fundación Trinidad Alfonso representative Dani Olmos. Sponsors of the race, emergency services who participate in the event such as the Civil Guard and firefighters, and also members of clubs who take part were also at the event.

Penyagolosa Trails director Tico Cervera wanted to thank the support of al sponsors and also the thousands of runners who have already made their pre-registration for the next edition. He said: “In October we returned after the break imposed on us by the pandemic, and we felt the magic of mountain races once more. We now want for 2022 to be a very special edition and we’re working hard for that.”

The ceremony yesterday also saw the presentation of the oficial Penyagolosa Trails 2022 video, with the slogan ‘Trail can’t be stopped’.

Charity shirts and a donation in the fight against cancer

Penyagolosa Trails director Tico Cervera also handed a cheque of €1044 to the Spanish Association against Cancer (Asociación Española contra el Cáncer). The organisation once more donated a euro for each finisher from the last edition.

They also made 15 charity shirts available to the runners, with funds raised going to the Huellas Callejeras charity.
