Miguel Álvarez’s team have overcome direct opposition thanks to two Arana goals

Villarreal B are still fighting. Miguel Álvarez’s side fought back against Atlético Baleares (2-1) thanks to two Juan Carlos Arana goals in an impressive second half by the Mini Submarine, who were better than their opponents all over the pitch. With the win, the Yellows have moved two points away from the top of the table, and are in the fight for first place with four games left of the season.

The match was open, with a lot of chances and open spaces. The opening stages saw both sides show their intentions, which were to get the three points. Atlético Baleares struck first through Vilarassa, who with half an hour gone, but the away side ahead with a low shott hat was unstoppable for Iker Álvarez.

The Yellows had to react to turn things around. And that’s what they did in a fantastic second half, with two fantastic Arana goals in the 63rd and 73rd minutes, to come away with the three points. The Canary Islander showed his goalscoring capacity with two classy finishes. With an advantage on the scoreboard, Miguel Álvarez’s side continued to dominate. In added time, the away side could have levelled the tie, but a great Iker Álvarez save saw the Mini Submarine get the victory.
