The Mini Submarine beat Amorebieta with goals from Ontiveros, Forés and Lekovic
Villarreal B won 3-1 against SD Amorebieta in the match corresponding to Matchday 7 of the 2023/24 LALIGA HYPERMOTION season thanks to goals from Ontiveros, Forés and Stefan Lekovic.
With Requena, Espigares and Iker Álvarez new to the starting line-up compared to the team that played last week in Huesca, the Yellows went for the game from the beginning. Javi Ontiveros could have scored on three separate occasions in barely 12 minutes with two shots from inside the box and another from midfield that came close to becoming the goal of the day.
SD Amorebieta, also in the early stages of the game, came timidly close to Iker Álvarez’s goal, who easily dealt with the visitors’ attempts.
In the 32nd minute of the game, Jorge Pascual was fouled just outside the box and Ontiveros, inspired, sent the ball into the back of the net to put the Mini Submarine ahead in the match.
Shortly before half-time, Ontiveros was again the centre of the action as he crossed for Alex Forés, who came close to scoring the second goal. Only P. Campos prevented it with a great save.
At half-time, Villarreal B went into the break with the lead thanks to Ontiveros’ free kick.
The second half couldn’t have started any better! After a textbook counter-attack, Jorge Pascual set up Álex Forés, who beat Campos with his left foot to score his second of the afternoon. The Valencian striker’s fifth goal in seven games.
In the 52nd minute, SD Amorebieta pulled one back through Manu H., who finished off a cross from the six-yard box.
Villarreal B recovered from the visitors’ goal in the best possible way: by scoring the third goal for their own team. Lekovic, on his first appearance at the Estadio de la Cerámica, scored with pleasure from a ball that had been left dead in the six-yard box after Carlo Adriano’s shot had been turned away by the post. The Serbian made it 3-1.
Miguel Álvarez introduced fresh legs in the final minutes of the game. Gelardo, Víctor Moreno and Rodri Alonso came on to help the team keep the lead on the scoreboard, which would end up being definitive. Villarreal B beat SD Amorebieta 3-1.
Miguel Álvarez’s team will be back in action next Saturday, 30th September, when they take on Alcorcón at 9pm at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
